Rough wind conditions at Travemunde

Rough wind conditions also meant that racing in the O-Jolle only took place on one of three race days, with some competitors pulling their sails before the start. For the Dutch in the O-Jolle fleet, however, the stronger wind was just what they needed.

With two first places, Dutchman Onno Yntema sailed to a commanding first place, repeating his success from 2018 when he also topped the podium at the 129th Travemünder Woche. ”It was wonderful conditions this time. We Dutch love strong wind and would have loved to sail even further,” he commented on the regatta.

Second place also went to a Dutchman, Mark Tigchelaar. ”It was excellent sailing here in Travemünde. I would have liked to sail more races, but I understand that many sailors didn’t want to risk any damage to their dinghy so close to the European Championships,” said the man from Amsterdam. Third place went to Harry Voss from Germany.
